Inspired by time

Nearly 30 years ago I went to live in a small seaside town in the Alentejo, Portugal. I found a piece of metal on a sandy track, the shells on the beach and assembled this necklace. I wore it constantly and ignored the bemused looks….I still love it. It seems I’ve always been attracted to old, timeworn objects and surfaces.

There’s something to be treasured about evidence left behind from previous times. I don’t know what the rusty piece of metal was but to me it has become a precious artefact.

Timeworn objects and surfaces

I use silver, enamel, found objects, wood, textiles and semi precious beads to make mostly wearable pieces of work. I like to experiment with different processes and materials, to question traditional ideas of preciousness.
